The special grooves in the friction material allow water and any other sediment (earth, sand, etc.) to escape; these slits on the block also allow for greater and faster cooling of the friction material. Designed and patented in the 1980s, FTR brake shoes were designed specifically for off-road use, offering excellent performance especially in critical conditions. Still appreciated today by vintage motorcycle enthusiasts.
