The Polini Evolution Fork for Piaggio ZIP SP and Vespa small frame was born from the need to improve safety in the Polini Italian Cup races. The original fork had many structural limits: hence the idea of building a fork entirely in high thickness electro-welded steel without aluminum parts. The central part was designed with modern 3D CAD and made in shaped microfusion and subsequently machined with sophisticated 5-axis CNC work centers. All this to be able to fix the shock absorber and the mudguard support. It is supplied powder coated resistant to corrosion and bad weather. The dimensions are designed to give stability and dynamism in driving. Resistant to sudden braking, it is designed for the assembly of conical bearings both in the upper and lower part to favor greater precision in steering and avoid the annoying breakages of the ball bearings. The scooter's setup is adjustable. To lower the height of the front end, different spacers are provided to have different settings. The overall weight is 1.1 kg greater than the original. The motorcycle-rider center of gravity is moved to a more suitable position and avoids excessive sealing on the scooter. To facilitate the assembly of the shock absorber, especially on the racetrack, in addition to the classic seat for the 13 mm hexagonal screw, elastic pins have been added to hold the screw in place. The fork is supplied with a steering lock plate and cable fixing bracket to be welded in the desired position. The zip mudguard support fixed with screws gives the possibility of removing it and adapting other types of mudguards. To facilitate the disassembly and assembly of the original suspension arm, a buffer and pin kit complete with roller cage is available in the package. The fork can also be installed on Vespa small frame frames by modifying the steering head: for this application we recommend using the Polini steering head code 050.2656.
